Dalia Mogahed
This insightful, brief video challenges the popular idea that 9/11 caused increased Islamophobia, and counters that elections are actually the greatest source of surges in anti-Muslim bigotry. Mogahed’s research also illustrates the links between increases in Islamophobia with increases in many forms of bigotry, particularly antisemitism. Her work highlights the connection between the growth of fear within populations to increased authoritarianism, conformity and prejudice, concluding that Islamophobia is a risk to all Americans, regardless of religious (or other) identity.
